Matilda House
I never knew Matilda House
Til everyone had gone
Long before the days that I
Had even come along
When guidance couldn’t find us
Guess I learned a thing or two
I never knew the questions
I should ask about the truth
If no one ever tells me
What am I to do
Distance always missed us
We were just too far away
And life wasn’t decided by
The flavour of the day
I won’t forget the storms I met
When I stood out in the rain
Everything that happened
Made me what I am today
If no one ever listens
What am I to say
I’ve been my own protector
Tried to shelter me from harm
So no one else became
Another scar upon my arm
A favour from the saviour
To help me get back home
Broken crayons still colour in
Flowers will re grow
Survivors left inside us
Lighting up our very souls
So if we just fall
Who will ever know
